Shirley Eis, Chair of the NPT Board of Trustees, founded Software Corporation of America in 1981 and as President and CEO built it into a leading provider of wireless application software and communication tools spanning landline and wireless network technologies. In 1999, SCA was acquired by Motorola, and Ms. Eis became a Motorola Vice President assuming responsibility for other acquisitions including Suncoast Scientific. Ms. Eis has over 25 years of diverse experience in telecommunications, information technology, management and sales and has held various technical and management positions for AT&T, General Foods, and Scudder Steven and Clark. She is a past board member of the Wireless Data Forum and currently sits on the board of Spot-On Networks a Wi-Fi service provider. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics from Marymount College.
Timothy C. Boyle is a Partner with KPMG LLP in Philadelphia, and serves as the Engagement Partner on a number of privately and publicly–held companies in various industries. Mr. Boyle also works with a number of high net worth individuals. Mr. Boyle aids clients with tax consultation; planning with regard to federal and state taxes, mergers and acquisitions, compensation and benefits, and regulatory filings. Clients served include GlaxoSmithKline, SAP America, Cephalon, MBNA, Day & Zimmerman, and others. Prior to joining KPMG he was a Partner with Arthur Andersen. In addition to his professional duties, Mr. Boyle currently serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at Villanova School of Law. He also is a member of the Accounting Advisory Board, School of Business, Villanova University, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is also an Eisenhower Fellow, and a member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of Leadership Philadelphia. He is a graduate of LaSalle College, and received an MBA from the Babcock School of Management at Wake Forest University.
Howard Brownstein is a Principal of NachmanHaysBrownstein, Inc. and has specialized in turn-around management for over fifteen years. Prior to joining NHB, Mr. Brownstein was both the Managing Director of Enprotech Corp., and the CEO and COO of The Stone Group. He serves on the International Board of Directors of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA), and its Executive and Audit Committees, and is the Vice President - International of the Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals and serves on its Board. Previously Mr. Brownstein served on the Board of Directors of Special Metals Corporation where he chaired the Audit Committee, and on the Board of Magnatrax Corporation. In addition, he has been a Financial Advisor to Debtors and to lenders and Creditor Committees in bankruptcy proceedings, and a litigation expert in several cases. Mr. Brownstein is a frequent speaker at professional and educational programs, and is a regular contributor to journals and periodicals. He is a graduate of Harvard University, where he obtained J.D. and M.B.A. degrees, and of the University of Pennsylvania, where he obtained B.S. and B.A. degrees from the Wharton School and the College of Arts and Sciences.
Elizabeth Wallace Ellers is a private investor and Founder of The globalislocal Fund, a partnership which invests in solutions to poverty for children and families who make up the 4 billion people on earth living on less than $4 a day. Ms. Ellers has served as advisor, partner, and board member for various nonprofit organizations in the fields of economic development, education and leadership. She is an alumna of The Philanthropy Workshop, a program of the Rockefeller Foundation and The Institute for Philanthropy in London. Ms. Ellers is a past recipient of the Gloria Steinem Philanthropic Vision Award for her work with the Collaborative Fund for Women's Economic Development. She holds a BA in International Relations from UCLA and an MBA from Columbia University.
Robert B. Hodes joined the law firm of Willkie Farr & Gallagher in New York City as an associate upon graduation from Harvard Law School in 1949. Specializing in mergers and acquisitions and general corporate work, he became partner, co-chairman, and in 1995, counsel. He serves as a director of several public and private business corporations including Mueller Industries, Inc. and RVI Guaranty, Ltd. and on the Boards of Beaver Dam Sanctuary, Inc., Cross River Reservoir Association, and The Creamer Foundation.
Dirk Jungé, CFA, is Chairman of Pitcairn Financial Group, a full-service financial management firm located in Jenkintown Pennsylvania, managing over $2 billion on behalf of individuals, families, foundations, and institutions. Prior to joining Pitcairn in 1974, Mr. Jungé was an Investment Officer and Portfolio Manager at Provident National Bank. He serves on numerous boards, both corporate and philanthropic and is a consultant and frequent speaker on the financial services industry, investment management, and family governance issues at conferences and seminars. Mr. Jungé continues to serve on numerous boards including the Abington Memorial Hospital Foundation, and Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust. He is a past member of the James Madison Council of the Library of Congress and the Family Firm Institute, as well as a member of the 1787 Society of the National Constitution Center.
Jeffrey R. Lauterbach is an independent advisor and consultant focusing on trust business and wealth planning. He is the former Chairman, President and CEO of the Capital Trust Company of Delaware, a company he founded in 1999. Under Mr. Lauterbach’s leadership the company grew to over $6 billion of assets in six years. Previously, Mr. Lauterbach served as Chairman, President and CEO of American Guaranty & Trust Company, and as Chairman of The American Gift Fund. He has also served as Chief Marketing Officer of Financial Service Corporation, Atlanta, Georgia, and as Managing Director Corporate Services of The International Association for Financial Planning, Atlanta. He has written numerous magazine articles and has co-authored two books about financial services marketing. He completed his undergraduate degree at Hamilton College, and is a graduate of Emory Law School and a member of the Georgia Bar. He formerly held Series 7, 24 and 27 securities licenses. He is VP Education of the Philadelphia Tri-State Area Financial Planning Association. He serves on the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Financial Planning, and the Editorial Advisory Panel of Family Foundation Advisor.
Christopher A. Liedel, chair emeritusof the NPT Board of Trustees, is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the National Geographic Society. He is responsible for financial administration and reporting, overseeing $700 million in investments, information systems, print manufacturing, distribution, and photographic processing for the Society. Mr. Liedel became Chief Financial Officer in 1997. He joined the Society in 1996 as Vice President for Strategic Planning. From 1991 to 1996, he held several positions at Ringier America, the North American division of Swiss-based publisher Ringier AG, ending as Senior Vice President of Operations. Mr. Liedel was General Manager of American Signature Technologies in Atlanta from 1988 to 1991. He is currently Chair of the NPT Investment Committee, overseeing $500 million in investments. He also serves on the boards of NOVICA and Amazon Center for Environmental Education and Research. In addition, he serves as a member of the Nominating Committee of the United States Golf Association. Mr. Liedel earned a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, has a master's degree in decision science from Georgia State University, and is a Wharton Fellow from the University Pennsylvania.
Rosalyn McPherson is President and Founder of The ROZ Group, Inc., a company that provides strategic marketing support, project management, and new product development. She has extensive expertise in business development, product and program development, entrepreneurial ventures, marketing, and sales. Her diverse background spans several industries to include publishing, education, science, entertainment, and cultural arts. Ms. McPherson is the former Senior Vice President of The Franklin Institute Science Museum, during which time she chaired the Marketing Sub-Committee of the Science Museum Exhibit Consortium, and generated attendance of almost a million visitors in a single year. As the former Senior Vice President of Time Life Education, she chaired Time Warner’s Education Task Force. She also served as the President and Founder of McPherson Andrews Marketing, Inc. Ms. McPherson completed her undergraduate degree at Southern University and her graduate degree at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She serves on the Board of Directors of The Forum of Executive Women and Girl Scouts of Southeastern Pennsylvania, and is a member of the National Advisory Board for Models in Excellence.
Sharon Mueller, chair emeritus of the NPT Board of Trustees, is a former CPA with a master's degree in taxation. After retiring from a career in financial management at Intel Corporation, Ms. Mueller founded a tax and financial consulting practice that specializes in start-up organizations. She has served many charities as a volunteer and board member.
June Noronha is a seasoned professional in leadership and strategic thinking and planning. Often invited as a public speaker she focuses her passion and energy on education, organizational change, international education, cross-cultural diversity, and training. She is the Strategic Planning Officer for The Archibald Bush Foundation, and previously held the positions of Associate Dean for Multicultural Education, Director, Office of International and Minority Programs, and Director, International Admissions at The College of St. Catherine. She has won a variety of prestigious awards, including the Distinguished Citizen Award from Macalester College, the Award for Extraordinary Leadership from the Association of International Educators, and the Leadership Award for Advancing International Education from MNSCU. Her undergraduate degree was completed at Macalester College and her Graduate Study in both Intercultural Relations and Intercultural Communication was done at The McGregor School, Antioch University and University of Minnesota. Ms. Noronha is the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of World Education Services. She has also served as the Chair of the Board for Association of International Educators, the Chair of Asian-American Renaissance, and on the Board of Directors of Carondelet LifeCare Ministries and Linden Educational Services.
Clark D. Pitcairn was a founder and the first President of the National Philanthropic Trust. He served as President of the Glencairn Foundation for nine years. He is on the board of directors for the Academy of the New Church and serves as chair of the development committee. Mr. Pitcairn is on the board of directors of the Pitcairn Financial Group. He also owned and operated Aquifer Dive Center in Jacksonville, Fla., for six years.
Diane Linen Powell is a marketing and communications specialist whose professional career spans the disciplines in local radio, cable television marketing, network radio and television, Internet, broadcast property sales, trade associations and publishing. Ms. Powell is currently a professional consultant, and Chairman of the Board of DesPlaines Publishing Company. She was previously the Chief Marketing Officer of Lifescape.com, and held senior executive positions with International Family Entertainment, Inc., the Television Bureau of Advertising in New York, Communications Equity Associates, the National Broadcasting Company, and WCRB AM/FM in Boston. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, with an MBA from Harvard University, Ms. Powell serves on the board of directors of the Broadcasters’ Foundation (Radio and Television Pioneers), the American Bible Society, the Harvard Business School Women of Washington, D.C., and others. She is a past board member of the Shakespeare Theatre (Washington, D.C.) and Goodwill Industries International.
Margarita Rosa is the Executive Director of Grand Street Settlement in New York which operates programs for 10,000 people annually. Its mission is to encourage and nurture self-determination among families and individuals through learning, advocacy, support, and community building. Ms. Rosa served as the New York State Commissioner of Human Rights from 1990 through 1994 and was the first women, the first Hispanic and the youngest person to serve in this position. She graduated Cum Laude from Princeton University with a Bachelor of Arts in history and received a Doctor of Law degree from Harvard Law School. Ms. Rosa served as a staff attorney at the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund and as the Division of Human Rights' General Counsel. She also serves on the board of directors of the Foundation for Child Development, the Non-Profit Coordinating Committee, and NPower NY. Ms. Rosa was a member of the Mayor's Committee on the Judiciary from 2002 until May 2004 and served on the Advisory Committee of the Independent Budget office of the City of New York.
